Description from manufacturer
Bourne Summum Prisma Radio has finally arrived and, as usual, Varlion dares to challenge the norm with new innovations and technologies designed to enhance the game. Completely unique playing feel. Very easy to maneuver despite the high balance, and the exit from the racket is enormous! As there are fewer holes in the sweetspot, more carbon fiber can hit the ball and generate incredible speed. Bourne Summum Prisma Radio is a unique racket where the hitting surface is constructed in a completely new way. Typically, holes in padel rackets are drilled, but in Prisma Radio, Varlion has developed a patented technique to mold the holes directly during manufacturing. This ensures that the holes and the entire hitting surface are completely intact, significantly reducing the risk of the hitting surface cracking between the holes. In addition to the technique itself, Varlion also analyzed the airflow in padel rackets during swings and realized that the air mainly flows through the outermost holes. For this reason, Varlion has now created large air intakes near the frame with its AirFlow technology so you always get the fastest possible swing. These holes are also molded into the shape and therefore beveled into the hitting surface. Thanks to its hybrid shape between drop and diamond, with high balance, Bourne has a large and generous sweetspot that can be likened to an oversized diamond shape. Bourne is a model that was born in 2018 from the fusion between Cañon (diamond shape created in 1995) and Avant (teardrop shape created in 2009). As a result, we achieved a drop-shaped racket, designed for players seeking control in their game without losing power. The PRISMA frame provides better aerodynamics and cuts through the air to give you a faster swing with 10% reduced air resistance, while the outermost edge of the frame is reduced by 90% and is only a few millimeters wide so you have the smallest possible contact area that can hit the glass when you dig deep for the balls. All this means better maneuverability of the racket and greater acceleration capacity on hits. Additionally, we have reinforced its most delicate tip (head) with a self-adhesive bumper that adapts perfectly to its shape, Prisma-bumper. This not only covers the frame but also its connection to the racket's plane. The core is Varlion's Winter core and is a medium-hard core that provides a good bounce and is adapted for play below 25 degrees. The hitting surface itself is made of a unique single layer of Italian 12K carbon fiber that gives you excellent exit without making the racket too heavy. The carbon fiber provides very good ball exit without being too stiff. This provides a better feel from the carbon fiber. The direction of the carbon fiber is also twisted 45 degrees to create a 3D effect that utilizes more carbon fiber threads with each hit, allowing you to maximize the racket's material. Bourne Summum Prisma also features the unique Summum shape, which means the handle is 2 cm longer than usual and the hitting surface is 1 cm longer than usual. This makes it easier to hit a two-handed backhand and provides a greater leverage effect in your hits, allowing you to generate more power. When it comes to applying effects to your hits, it presents a rough texture on the plane called Slice, which has been designed and developed with a series of curved lines to make the ball grip more. Since these contours are molded into the surface, the structure will never disappear. Unique to Varlion's rackets is also the way the safety strap is attached to the handle itself instead of the knob. This means the safety strap is more or less impossible to tear off. This model is made 100% by hand in Spain at Varlion's own factories. If you are instead looking for a racket with more all-around properties, we recommend the Varlion Maxima Summum Prisma Radio.
