Most models can be divided into three different shapes: round, teardrop-shaped, and diamond-shaped. There are also variants (e.g., hybrid) and so-called oversized models. The sport of padel is evolving, and experiments with shape, balance, material, weight, etc. are constantly emerging. The following characteristics are general and do not apply to all models.

Round shape
Large sweet spot, low balance, high control, more playable, suitable for players with a focus on defense.

Diamond-shaped
Small sweetspot, high balance, high speed, more difficult to play, suits players focused on offense.

Teardrop shape
A middle ground of diamond-shaped and round models that suit the all-around player.
